8 Ways to Win a Deal By Creating Relational Equity

Building Authentic Rapport to Foster Better M&A Outcomes.

September 12, 2023—All relationships require work and trust — however, in M&A, building authentic rapport is a key aspect of a successful dealmaking process. With the M&A environment going virtual during Covid, dealmakers were confined to the flat encounters of virtual meetings. Buyers and sellers could not build rapport in-person, which, in turn, created shallow associations and a sterile dealmaking environment.

Market uncertainty remains pervasive, and parties who refuse to course correct may face rough waters in the second half of 2023 and beyond. We believe it’s time for buyers and sellers to think outside of the transaction terms and focus a bit more on the faces behind the deal.

Mergers & Acquisitions recently featured an article authored by our own Eric Parekh, in which he shares key insights on how to get a deal to the finish line by fostering relational equity. You can read the full article here.

In that spirit, we would be happy to discuss how we build relational equity during a transaction — or share our perspectives on what we are seeing in the market. Please reach out to our team if you would like to connect.
