Douglas Palmer, Jr. (“DJ”)

DJ brings nearly two decades of experience executing software and technology transactions. His perspective is forged from the deal table, advising founders through transformative exits, partnering alongside top-tier private equity and venture capital funds, and negotiating directly with the institutional buyers who shape enterprise valuation.

DJ has worked closely with some of the most elite software and technology investors globally on the buy-side, including Insight Partners, Clearlake Capital, H.I.G. Capital, and Genstar Capital. His advisory work across the Insight Partners portfolio encompassed platform investments and strategic add-ons for market leaders including Diligent, CivicPlus, EveryAction, Fourth, Appriss, E2Open, Ministry Brands, Bullhorn, Campaign Monitor, and Inhabit. Additionally, he’s worked with other notable market leaders and private equity funds, such as Oaktree Capital, Alpine Investors, Stack Sports, Symplicity, Ntiva, and USA Today Co. (NYSE: TDAY). That sustained immersion across the entire investment lifecycle (sourcing, diligence, portfolio expansion, and exit execution) underpins his deep vertical mastery and transactional intuition.

DJ pairs extensive buyer relationships and institutional insight with rigorous transaction execution, enabling him to drive optimal outcomes for founders, management teams, and sponsors when exiting their companies. Of note, he led the majority recapitalization of Kaseware to the Riverside Company, which won M&A Deal of the Year and USA Growth Deal of the Year; Municode’s sale to CivicPlus, which was recognized as one of the top Middle Market Deals of the Year and Technology Deal of the Year; MyGov’s sale to Tyler Technologies (NYSE: TYL), which was recognized as the GovTech Deal of the Year and Strategic Deal of the Year, and RecDesk’s sale to Clubessential Holdings, a marquee software and payments deal. His sector expertise spans GovTech, Public Safety, GRC and compliance technology, FinTech, LegalTech, PropTech, and AI-native software platforms. A member of the Forbes Finance Council, DJ is a frequent contributor to industry publications such as Forbes and GovTech.com. His background also includes transaction advisory and corporate finance roles at District Capital Partners, Evergreen Advisors, PwC, and Deloitte.

Outside of the office, DJ can be found harnessing his negotiating skills with his kids, skiing with his family, solving the next chess problem, or exploring a new running trail. As a former NCAA Division I athlete in Cross Country and Track and Field and post-collegiate runner for Brooks Sports, DJ carries the same discipline, pain tolerance, and competitive instinct that defines how he approaches this work. He does not stop when it gets hard. He is wired for it.
